Polite Rejection Email From The “CANADIAN MUSEUM FOR HUMAN RIGHTS”

Here is the polite rejection email I got ftprom the “Canadian Museum For Human Rights” folks in Winnipeg. The most recent colour “Families Of the Dump” work was rejected. Gosh not even finished shooting the photos (Still another 2 weeks) and already got a polite kick to the balls,,“No!!” Still they did it nicely, many institutions don”t even reply to you. Maybe someday, someone big will tell this story, the story of the families to the world. If that does not happen then I have failed them.

Notice how the email describes the lives of familes, of the elderly, OF CHILDREN, OF BABIES living in a garbage dump as a “CONCEPT!”. They have no space in their HUMAN RIGHTS museum for the babies and children living with cockroaches, rats and human waste “CONCEPT”.

Dear Gerry Yaum,

Thank you for reaching out to the Canadian Museum for Human Rights about your photography exhibition “Families of the Dump." We have circulated your exhibition content proposal internally. The footage and photos are beautifully presented, and certainly they capture the many emotions of the situation. Unfortunately, at this time we won’t be able to dedicate exhibition space for the concept, as our
exhibition space is fully booked into 2020.

We will, however, keep the concept on file in case there are opportunities in the future.  If we have further questions we will be sure to be in touch.

Many thanks,
