Nationalism Versus Humanism

Been watching a lot of Fox TV here when I get back to my room at night, its filled with jingoism, stories about American flags and such. Nationalism divides us as human beings, it creates separation. We need to think of each other as Human Beings not Canadians, Americans, Burmese or Thais, then maybe we can look out for each other better and the worlds poor would have a more equal footing.

Today I watched a women dig through a bag in a garbage pile at the dump, the bag contained discarded food. This woman (do not know her name yet) has a family and young children, she was looking through the bag to find anything that she could use to feed her family. As the woman scavenged through the garbage food bag a dog on top of the same pile of garbage was also eating and scavenging for food. What kind of world allows this? We are not Burmese or Americans, flags and countries do not matter, what matters is that we are all human beings, the sooner we realize this the sooner we can stop digging in garbage for food.
